FOI Starts Research School for Security
[2007-12-21]
The new research school for security and crisis management – “Forum Securitatis” – is a co-operation between FOI and the University of Linköping.
The first phase runs for four years, and is expected to turn over just under 5 million SEK per year, of which two thirds are funded by VINNOVA. Some 20 graduate students will be admitted. The participants already have their basic financing ensured from their own institutions. The funds for the research school will be used for developing courses and workshops, as well as for exchanges and travel, both nationally and internationally
The research school will develop a completely new line of education for security and crisis management. It is based on an interdisciplinary perspective and developed in co-operation with industries, authorities and the two research centres ECCSS and FOCUS. These include companies such as SAAB and Ericsson AB. The research school will also be utilising the many academic subjects that LiU and FOI cover jointly, and both the industry’s and FOI’s unique laboratories and equipment.
The training will consist of both courses of an applied industrial character, individual academic courses and important parts of various postgraduate study plans.
