Worsened security situation in Afghanistan - what happens with the Iran-Pakistan relation?
[2009-03-05]
On March 10th, FOI will hold a seminar on the relations between Iran and Pakistan, given the current situation in Afghanistan. The invited speaker is Dr. Harsh Pant from Kings College, London. Dr. Pant is a specialist on the political-security issues related to the relationships between countries in Southeast Asia and the Gulf Region.

What are the challenges facing Iran and Pakistan? How are their mutual relations affected by the situation in Afghanistan? What would be the significance of moving American military forces from Iraq to Afghanistan? These are just some of the questions that Dr. Pant will focus on during his presentation at FOI.
Dr. Pant's research background covers political-security issues in the Middle East and South Asia. He has also written a chapter for the following study on Pakistan - Consequences of Deteriorating Security in Afghanistan, which was recently published as part of the project, "Studier i asiatisk säkerhet på Försvarsanalys" (in English, Studies on Asian security by the Swedish Defence Research Agency, Division of Defence Analysis).
