Aims and Objectives
Over the last few years, robotics has continued to expand from its factory birthplace into new unstructured and populated environments such as households and outdoor areas. Today, an increasing number of researchers and developers all over Sweden are actively participating in this expansion.

The Third Swedish Workshop on Autonomous Robotics, SWAR’05, is organized by FOI, the Swedish Defence Research Agency. It is an excellent opportunity for researchers and engineers working in robotics and autonomous systems in a wide sense to learn about activities of neighboring institutions, discuss common interests and initiate new cooperations. The previous workshops SWAR’00 and SWAR’02, hosted by Örebro University and KTH, respectively, were met with great enthusiasm by the participants.

Program and Plenaries
SWAR’05 will be in the form of a single track with oral presentations. The first plenary talk will be Autonomous GIS-supported Positioning and Navigation, by Fredrik Gustafsson, Linköping University. The second plenary will be given by Per Bodin of the Swedish Space Corporation. A preliminary version of the program can be found below.

Submissions (Closed)
Submissions are welcome in the form of 1-2 page extended abstracts. Submissions should be sent by email to swar05@foi.se as a PDF file. Other formats are not accepted. In the body of the email message, please specify paper title; and name, affiliation, and email of all authors; name, email, postal address, phone and fax of corresponding author.

Final revisions
Please note that the 1-2 (preferably 2) page extended abstracts, and not full length papers, to avoid copyright issues, will appear in the workshop proceedings. Also note that any revisions of the 2 page extended abstracts must be submitted on or before the 17th of August.

Registration
For practical reasons we ask the participants to register as early as possible, and no later than the 25th of August, even though the workshop is free of charge, thanks to financial support from FOI and FMV. To register an email with the following information should be sent to swar05@foi.se: name, phone, address, interest to participate in a common restaurant dinner where everyone pays for themselves (yes/no).

Venue
SWAR’05 will be held in the open conference area at the entrance level of the FOI building in Kista, Stockholm. FOI is right next to the shopping mall and subway station in Kista, see map. Kista is only a 17 minutes subway ride from T-centralen, and 25 minutes from Arlanda with Flygbussarna.

Accomodation
There are a number of hotels within 500m from FOI in Kista, e.g Memory Hotel, Mr Chip Hotel and Accome Hotel. Lower price options in central Stockholm include Colonial Hotel.
