Human

This image visualizes a steady state Euler flow solution computed with Edge, simulating the airflow round a human female standing a strong headwind (uniform 20 m/s, ISA sea level). The image shows a "rake" of streamlines and a colour mapping of the surface-tangential flow velocity.

The solution was obtained using 4-level multigrid, with 2e4 points in the finest grid. The unstructured grid was generated from a public domain IGES geometry (asymmetric) using ICEM Tetra and the flow visualizaion was performed using EnSight.

This Edge flow simulation, including gridding and visualization, was completed in October 2003 by Stephen Conway, at FOI/FFA.

The lower picture shows a visualization of the computed flowfield in the Virtual-Reality Cube at KTH PDC. The VR Cube is a fully immersive visualization environment. The Cube is a room in which stereoscopic images are displayed on the four walls, the floor, and the ceiling. The six displays are synchronized to provide the users with a single surrounding 3D view. The perspective in the images displayed is adjusted according to the position and viewing direction of one of the users.

The visualization in the VR Cube has been performed by Elias Sundström and Stefan Görtz at KTH Aeronautical and Vehicle Engineering in 2003.
