On 16 September 2015 RUFS and the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) arranged the seminar"Russia's defence spending and defence industry at a time of economic crisis".external link Speakers were Tor Bukkvoll, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Ruslan Pukhov, Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST),Cecilie Sendstadexternal link, FFI (Sendstad recently commented on SVT on Russian defence spending) and Tomas Malmlöf, FOI. Susanne Oxenstierna, FOI, moderated the seminar.

 

8 April 2015 RUFS, together with the MFA, arranged a seminar on the theme "In a Cross-Fire of Integration: Ukraine, the EU and Russia" with Dr. Kataryna Wolczuk, University of Birmingham, U.K., as invited speaker.

 

30 October 2014 RUFS together with the Asia Security Studies project organized a seminar on the theme "Sources of Chinese Global Power".external link Invited speaker was Shaun Breslin, Professor of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, and Associate Fellow of the Chatham House Asia Programme.

 

22 April 2014 Gudrun Persson and Carolina Vendil Pallin were invited speakers at the seminar “Russia in Search of an Identity”external link on 22 April at the Institute of International Affairs.

 

21 March 2014 A seminary is held at the Ministry of Defence on the Costums Union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Speakers: Professor Julian Cooper, University of Birmingham and Professor Silvana Malle, University of Verona. Discussant: Dr Torbjörn Becker, Stockholm Scool of Transitions Economics (SITE).

 

6 September 2013 RUFS arranged a round table on the theme “Russia: Prospects for a Unique Russian Path”. Introductory remarks were given by Julian Cooper, Russian Economic Studies of the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Birmingham; Keir Giles, Conflict Studies Research Center; and, Hanna Smith, Aleksanteri Institute, University of Helsinki. The roundtable was moderated by Carolina Vendil Pallin, RUFS.

 

21-22 May 2013 RUFS together with the Asia Security Studies project organized a two day workshop in cooperation with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty. The theme was ”Afghanistan post NATO – Central Asian States’ Perspective on Regional Security”. 12 April 2013 In connection with an internship by professor Julian Cooper, University of Birmingham, RUFS organized a seminar on the theme ”Different this time? Russia and prospects for Eurasian integration”. Speaker: Julian Cooper.

 

11 March 2013 in connection with a visit of the Moscow-based think tank Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), the Russia Studies programme organized an international seminar on the theme ”Defence Industry and International Cooperation”.external link Participating were Ruslan Pukhov, CAST, Martin Lundmark, FOI, and Paul Holtom, SIPRI. 1 February 2013 the Russia Programme arranged a seminar on Russia and the Arctic with professor Katarzyna Zysk, Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, Oslo

 

24 May 2012 the Russia project, with support from Riksbankens jubileumsfond, arranged an international conference, ”Russian Energy and Security up to 2030”, about Russian energy policy and its implications for security policy. During the conference, 14 scientists from 9 different countries presented their contributions with a variation of topics and geographical perpectives.
