Abstract
Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference 2000 (I/ITSEC) had the theme, "Partnership of Learning in the Millennium" this year, and was focused on the importance of establishing partnerships across the armed forces, academia and industry to meet training challenges facing a downsized military. Some key subjects during the event were: - How to use the experience and knowledge in the commercial game industry in military Modeling and Simulation. - The use of Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) in learning and training military personnel in a more efficient way. - The use of Synthetic Environments in modeling and simulation. Training for Coalition warfare was stressed in special events and papers at the conference. The way forward is to find new solutions using COTS (Commercial of the Shelf) technology allowing time for new thinking and make networks through national systems and programs.
