A parallel version of the finite element computer code DYNA3D have been developed using the shared memory parallel application interface OpenMP. The parallel version runs on shared memory architectures such as the SGI Origin 2000. The speedup scales well up to four processors, after which the speedup begin to saturate due to effects from non-parallel section and increased memory access times.
