Abstract

Future military radar and radio will use spread spectrum techniques (i.e. wideband) and array antennas to avoid detection by signal intelligence and to resist jamming. In a digital array antenna the signals from all the antenna elements are individually digitized and the beamforming is done digitally. This report describes the implementation and use of a MATLAB simulator for wideband radar and radio signals received by digital array antennas. The simulator is part of a toolbox for radar and radio array processing, which is under development at FOA. The simulator is a tool in the research on signal processing of wideband signals received by digital array antennas. The report is directed towards the scientists who will use the simulator. Possible future work is the implementation of wideband methods for beamforming and DOA estimation and studies of narrowband DOA estimation on wideband signals.
