Abstract

Some 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the breakout of Eternal Peace, the political barometer indicates that we are heading into a perfect geopolitical storm. This storm is being formed by mutually reinforcing systemic crises at the global, European and national levels, and it may transform the political landscape and tear down institutions, arrangements and relations we have come to take for granted. In such turbulent times, history shows, ordinary people, weak or small states and higher values are often brutally sacrificed or squeezed. Thus, it seems prudent for Sweden to start thinking of a Plan B, or at least to prepare for navigating in stormy and unknown waters.
