Abstract

In this annual report FOA reports on the work done for the Swedish Armed Forces during 2000 within the research area Assessment and Operations Research. The research area consists of Operations Research Groups, placed in different parts of the Swedish Armed Forces, and of research projects at FOA. The Operations Research Groups have primarily participated in the long term planning process and in different studies within the Swedish Armed Forces. The project LUST has produced a vision for the technical component of the Swedish Armed Forces future Command and Control System. Within the project ANABASIS a good understanding of the capabilities of the air defence in the scenarios used by LUST has been reached, especially where time factors and feasibility are concerned. Within the project quantitative Operations Research Models, knowledge at FOA about Operations Research Methods has been channelled to the Operations Research Groups in a more efficient manner than what has previously bee the case. The Swedish Armed Forces benefits from the research within the research area Assessment and Operations Research by the contribution to a systematic process before defence decisions. The 2000 turnover was 37.6 MSEK, of which 26.6 MSEK was the turnover for the Operations Research Groups.
