A here produced, simple theoretical model for the deformation of the bottom plate of a vehicle after a land mine explosion yields results in agreement with practical experience. The model does not require a detailed description of the vehicle geometry or use of numerical simulation methods for the dynamic process, but is based on energy conservation. The physical character of the model makes it well suited for experimental investigation in laboratory scale to relatively low costs.
