Abstract

During a series of exercises, the Swedish Army Command, ATIK, and the Swedish Defence Research Agency, F01, have been collaborating in order to dovolop methods for using staff instructors to collect data in field exercises. The purpose has been to have a largo data basa to verity the modets designed in the scope of ATIK´s C2systems clevelopment. The work has revealed two problems as central. How can the regular procecure to present results in the form of written reports be more time- efficient? How should statt instructors be used in systematic testing of command and control models? In the present report a model based approach is described including initial analysis, data collection, concluding analysis and documentation. The central principle is that all phases in the analysis are documented on the same graphical sheet. The report describes how the work was carried out and the results from the staffexercise ASS0 02. It seems as observers with different backgrounds and different competence´s can use the suggested method without extensive training. The documentation of the results was completed at the same day as the exercise ended. Some problems to study in turther method development are suggested.
