Abstract
The threat of attacks from ballistic missiles is steadily increasing and a particularly ominous threat is ballistic missiles with BC-warheads. In this report, a short review is made of unclassified data on possible threat missiles and different types of warheads that can be used on these missiles. Possible defence systems against these threats are also discussed, especially terminal defence ant-missile weapons defeating the threat warheads by direct hit or near-miss in combination with advanced KE-warheads. The design of and the demands that should be put on such a warhead are discussed from a principal point of view. A survey of terminal ballistic studies that should be carried out in this context is made as well as a survey of the resources available at FOI to carry out such studies.
