This report summarises the results from the fiscal year 2002 within FOI research area of NBC-defence. The report gives a survey of the ongoing activities, the extent and directing of the area and the national and international development in the field of NBC-defence. During 2002 FOI has for example - Studied and analysed the international development in the NBC-area and reported to the Government and authorities concerned - Completed a review on improvised nuclear devices - Initiated a study on relevant physical processes in the stockpile stewardship of thermonuclear weapons Initiated research on B-agents with the objective to identify new key determinants which are mutual for several pathogens - Successfully participated in several international interlaboratory calibration studies concerning analysis of B- and C-agents, fissile materials and fission products. - Concluded an agreement with the SRV regarded research on the countering of accidents with industrial chemicals - Supported the Armed Forces to set up a temporary Rapid Response NBC Unit - Released a new edition of the English version of the FOI briefing book on Chemical weapons
