Abstract
The report indicates the necessity of looking at Non Lethal Options as a part of the holistic problem. Development of systems when scalable effects is tried to be obtained, is an iterative process including several researchdisciplins essential. This especial as the requirements on the sensors varies as regards new types of effects in new warheads. The mainpart of the report stresses the international focus on Non Lethal Weapons as a need within Peace Support Operations. Performance of this type of means requires special training and Standard Procedures compared with an armed conflict. The needs for research are i.g. physiological facts, to be able to foresee the effects of a system on the human being. Essential is the public acceptance of this type of options and a future more distinct right to use preventive legal violence, to prevent escalation. Intenationally are now the tendence to develop new types of effect i.e. within the electromagnetic spectrum.
