Abstract

Within the project "Evaluation of electronic warfare for radar seekers", a mobile, coherent radar measuring system named "Arken" is used to measure radar cross section of different types of objects, such as planes, ships and ground vehicles, and for evaluation of radar counter measures. The systems´ ability to do high range resolution measurements using the stepped frequency technique has to date been used very sparsely, and when used, the system has furthermore not been calibrated for that purpose and no detailed evaluation of the measurements have been made. Implementation of new hardware now enables stepped frequency measurements in dynamic scenarios. Demands for high range resolution measurements with Arken is increasing, so therefore it is important to develop methodology and signal processing for these types of measurements. This report describes the methodology and signal processing used for high range resolution measurements with the radar measurement system Arken.
