This report investigates problems and solutions related to use of geographical information from heterogeneous sources by information consuming systems in the armed forces, i.e. standards and architectures for distribution of geographical information. In this context, service orientated architectures, Web Services (WS) and Open GIS Web Services (OWS) are described along with standards for data representation (SEDRIS). The described standards and techniques are also discussed in terms of their applications within an environment for network-based modeling and simulation (M&S).
