Abstract
CMMS, a concept presented by the US DMSO, is about conceptual descriptions and models of military operations. It is the first level of abstraction when describing reality and aims to address characteristic details of the problem space. The concept of CMMS consists not only of conceptual models but also of tools for their development and reusability, a common library to store them, and standards for acquisition and integration of knowledge. After a prestudy of CMMS the Swedish FOI project, also called CMMS, suggested a long-term plan showing in order to succeed with the CMMS concept within the Swedish Armed Forces. The FOI CMMS project officially began 2003, focusing on the concept of knowledge acquisition and knowledge engineering i.e. the KA/KE process. The study of KA/KE was the first activity in the suggested plan. Now in 2004, we have moved our focus from step one to the next two steps in our long-term plan, which are issues related to problem domains concerning language and tools. With the purpose of identifying the tool needs of the CMMS concept, the CMMS process has been analyzed and refined. This work, as well as our approach to deal with the language related issues, such as ontology and common terms, is described in this report. The need of a tool according to which you can model your knowledge, resulted in a new concept called, KM3 - Knowledge Meta Meta Model, which also will be discussed in this report.
