Abstract

Intentional or unintentional minor spills of hazardous materials in public areas may have serious consequences. This report deals with experimental tests, determination of risk distances and decontamination needs after a release of hazardous materials with low volatility. A threshold value of 0.1 g/m2 gives a risk and decontamination area within a distance of about 150 metres from the spill. Shoes, tires or other things that have been in contact with the contaminated surface also need decontamination.
