Abstract
To be able to meet future demands for flexible and perisistent surveillance and reconnaissance there is a growing interest to enhance number of sensor functions available on future surveillance vehicles and platforms. The advantages of single function RF-sensors and commincation links are well known. But the possibilities of enhancing the number of RF-systems on a vehicle is restricted by its payload capacity, available power, suitable sensor positions, low-observable requirements and not least by what can be financially afforded. The project Array antenna technology and programmable microwave systems has investigated possibilities to develop reconfigurable sensor technology where the same hardware would be able to adapt its characteristics to suit the needs of several RFfunctions. The aim is to be able to perform multiple RF-functions with the same aperture and front-end. The report summarizes work and results within: - System requirement analysis - Sensor development and modelling - Signal processing - National and international co-operation
