Abstract
This report presents a summary of studies, results and usefulness to the Swedish MFA within the research area of disarmament and non-proliferation for the year 2005. The activities have been directed towards support to disarmament negotiations, export controls and verification within areas of nuclear, chemical and biological agents and weapons and also the missile area. Nuclear weapons: the work with a national data center (NDC) for analysis and handling of data from seismdetection, collection of xenon gas, and filtering of radionuclides continues. Technical support has been give to MFA and in the preparatory actions for the CTBT and in non-proliferation issues. Biological weapons: support has been given to the negotiations on a verification protocol to the biological and toxin weapons convention, the Australia Group and export control issues. Chemical weapons: support has been given to the MFA work within The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), the Australia Group and in export control issues. In addition, the operation of the FOI C-verification laboratory has continued. Other support: FOI has carried out a review of the international development in missile technology.
