Abstract
This report describes how reverberation models have been implemented in two programs (RAYLAB and MODELOSS) for acoustic wave propagation in plane layered sea environments. The models are aimed at two specific applications, one for geoacoustic inversion of reverberation data and the other one for generation of synthetic signals in a sonar simulator. In both cases short run times are required, and this aspect has been decisive for the choice of models. The reverberation models have been compared with predictions of other well-known models for a number of test cases. In general results agree well with departures within a few dB. The results from comparison runs have also given suggestions for model improvements.
