Abstract

EWSim (Electronic Warfare Simulation interface model) is a simulation framework developed within the project "Future Electronic Warfare Duel Simulation". This document describes the generic radar models developed for the EWSim framework. These generic models are developed using generic sub models. Using these sub models, models of radar, radar jammers, radar warning receivers, chaff and target radar cross section have been developed. The document is on a technical level and addressed to those who are looking for an insight how these genericmodels are constructed. The document describes the design of the models, their method of working, their user interface, how to configure and to integrate them into the EWSim framework. A discussion concludes the document with some possibilities to improve the design, in order to simplify modelling of semi-active surface to air missiles. EWSim is capable of simulating radar systems together with communication systems and electro-optical systems and the framework therefore allows issues concerning systems-of-systems to be assessed. With this possibility, platforms with different sub systems can be configured and optimized for protection and effectiveness.
