Abstract

Nordic defence co-operation is an issue that has gained political priority. The Swedish and Norwegian Armed Forces have recently conducted a study together on possible co-operation. This report have been requested by the Swedish Defence Ministry. It has been compiled separately from the aforementioned study. The purpose of the report is to illustrate incentives, possibilities and benefits, regarded in a broad perspective, and thereby also to provide some comprehensive second opinion aspects on the issue. The report deals with future production co-operation - procurement, training, research, etc. It also discusses operational co-operation and highlights security policy aspects - prerequisites and consequences - of Nordic co-operation. The report confirms in general terms that factors concerning production economies and compentencies as well as operations and security policies provide grounds for further developing Nordic defence co-operation.
