Abstract
During three years FOI has studied the processes and the system for disposal of munitions. FOI has found that the efficiency of this system is dependent upon a few couple of persons who work to make it possible. Through workshops and interviews FOI has put together a proposal to improve the whole process from purchase to disposal of munitions to facilitate the reuse. FOI suggests an introduction of a new public strategic plan for the disposal of munitions based upon the disposal needs three to five years ahead. This plan is the platform of the work for the new proposed group, the disposal committee. The disposal committee's main focus will be to produce a basis material for procurement of disposal of munitions. The group will also maintain knowledge about munitions disposal, to ensure knowledge transfer between different actors in the process, to ensure that demilitarisation instructions are included in a purchase and to be responsible that adequate documentation is held. The purpose of all this is to try to ensure that no future disposal problems are built into new munitions.
