M&S Infrastructure for Rapid prototyping

Development of complex simulations, unfortunately, is often time-consuming and expensive. In order to be able to test ideas quickly, reduce uncertainty in decisions or nd out about a particular situation we have in this project explored the possibilities of using Rapid prototyping (RP) as a way to reduce lead times and costs to develop simulation models. This report gives us a description of RP, and shows how the concept can be used within M&S, in order to reduce lead times, costs and risk and increase quality. One class of M&S infrastructures that can be used for RP is commercial simulation frameworks. A simulation framework provides much of the technical infrastructure required for modeling and simulation. By applying the concept of RP on the activities of the "Computer generated forces"-project have we tried to achieve a platform for experimentation, and create conditions that also contribute to the production of models that can be used in M&S facilities used by tghe Swedish armed forces. With projects that are short relative to the expected tool life within the organization, some part of the organization have to take responsibility to ensure predictable costs has coverage.
