Abstract
The report describes a possible demonstration system for evaluation of high-sensitivity algorithms for military GPS-signals and scenarios. The report is divided in three parts: Description of the demonstration-system Evaluation of the general hardware-platform USRP (www.ettus.com) with the software GNU-Radio, and the capability of digitizing military GPS-signals. A market survey of GPS-software receivers. The demonstration system consists of: a GPS simulator for generating the GPS-signals and scenarios, digitizing hardware and a software GPS receiver for the evaluation of high-sensitivity algorithms. The recommendation from this work is to use the GNSS software receiver developed by Dennis Akos and Kai Borre as a starting platform for simulation of the GPS receiver. The software receiver should be developed further, to be used for military GPS-signals, in cooperation with Luleå Tekniska Högskola and the developers of the software. The evaluation of USRP leads to the conclusion that this solution does not cope with the demands for a correct digitizing of the military GPS-signal. The recommendation must therefore be to purchase the USRP2 and investigate further its possibility to digitize the needed bandwidth of 20 MHz.
