In most soldier modernisation programs the soldier seems to be overloaded with information and equipment. The need to reduce the amount of information for the dismounted soldier to the most basic has been discussed. To study this question, using experimental methods, two kind of portable presentation systems has been constructed and built. With the first system you can present a bearing to targets in a very simple way and with the other one you can present information for navigation support, at any desired level from bearing to a complete map support. Technical tests with the equipment and pilot studies have been carried out to prepare for future experimental studies.
