Abstract
Sensor data containing sound, images and video with various frequency contents are important, and will in the future be even more so, within the Swedish defence. Watermarking is a method which can be used to embed information in such data. After the embedding, there should be no conceptual difference between the original and watermarked sensor data. The watermark can at a later stage be extracted from the sensor data and used for security applications. In the beginning we give a summary of the watermarking area. Background and the three main areas are described. Identification that are used for storing information in the sensor data. Individual watermarks that can be used to trace the source of unauthorized redistribution. Content authentication that is a form of watermarking used to verify the integrity of the sensor data. Adjacent research areas are described. A study of individual watermarking for different distribution scenarios is given. Different approaches to distribute individually watermarked content from one source to many recipients have been tested. A discussion follows on other forms of distribution and how these methods would perform for them. Finally we talk about the implementation of algorithms for a content authentication system that can withstand some compression but will identify other changes in the sensor data. For sensor data that has been changed the method can identify within which area the data has been damages or manipulated.
