Abstract

This report summarises the results from the fiscal year 2009 within the FOI research area of CBRN-defence and environmental protection. The report gives a survey of the ongoing activities, the extent and directing of the area and the national and international development within the field of CBRN-defence field. During 2009, FOI has for example  Supported the Government, the Swedish Armed Forces and other defence authorities by making independent CBRN threat assessments,  carried out research in order to further understand the properties of various CBRN agents and related compounds,  carried out research in order to further enhance the capabilities of the Swedish Armed Forces to detect and identify chemical, biological and radiological compounds,  on a conceptual level, developed existing medical and physical protection methods against CBRN,  contributed to that CBRN related health and environmental risks that might occur during international operations in a near future will be characterized and minimized and  supported the Swedish Armed Forces ability to fulfil existing demands related to environmental issues.
