Abstract

This report summarises the research from the fiscal year 2009 within the Swedish De-fence Research Agency in the domain of Modelling and Simulation. It presents an overview of the research domain and the national and international development. The results of the research are summarised and the activities carried out in each project are described. FOI research within M&S is aimed at supporting the Swedish Armed Forces by devel-oping and assessing technologies, methodologies and tools to be used in a range of modelling and simulation applications, as well as providing direct support to various parts of the Armed Forces (eg, expert support, studies and international collaborations) when prompted.. The research is however more directed towards areas of education and training, decision support, command and control systems and CD&E. Developed R&T results in the M&S-area also support the activities in other R&T areas. A key factor in successful research is to monitor developments in the area, establish contacts and develop partnerships both internationally and nationally. To be an attrac-tive partner, however, the research needs to be on the edge and contribute to the devel-opment of the area in selected topics. During this year, the number of international collaborations has increased and efforts have been made to improve M&S skills both generally and within specific areas.
