This report is a part in the exploratory study of Ladar demonstrator at FOI and analyses target and background reflectance and penetration of vegetation and windows (Work package 2 Environment and target analysis). With background within scenarios means vegetation, urban environment, water, snow and ice and camouflage. Targets mean civilian vehicles, military vehicles, marine targets (boats of different sizes and diver), humans (clothes (textiles), skin and hair) and weapons. For both backgrounds and targets the reflectance depends on the surface character, the colour and the angle of incidence. Penetration has been studied for vegetation and the urban environment (through windows). Work package 2 also contains the atmosphere and penetration through smoke and fire, but is not described in this report.
