Abstract
This report is produced within the three-year project Penetrating radar systems for urban operations, which is funded by the Swedish military. The purpose of the report is to provide an updated survey of existing wall penetrating radar systems developed during the past five years. The previous state-of-the-art survey was published in December 2005 [1], and since then, several new products have appeared on the market or are in the development stage. It is evident that the TTW radar system development is no longer only confined to USA, Israel and UK, but it is now also underway in countries such as China, the Czech Republic and Sweden. Radar systems included the previous state-of-the-art survey but not presented herein are considered to be either unmodified or no longer available on the market. An interesting finding is that the U.S. TTW radar manufacturer TimeDomain has discontinued the production of the SoldierVision/RadarVision systems. During the past five years the trend has been toward radar imaging systems and respiratory detection. However, the TTW radar developers have not yet managed to achieve imaging and recognition of weapons that people behind the wall are holding or carrying. This is of great interest because it would provide capability to determine who is a potential threat and who is not.
