Abstract
The project "Värdering vapen och skydd - verkan, sårbarhet och risk" includes activities within the area of human vulnerability. The activities have been focusing on the development and evaluation of existing assessment methods and injury criteria for the analysis of vulnerability and survivability of personnel. The aim is to enable FOI to support the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV in decisions concerning the effects of conventional weapons on soft targets, the efficiency of protective equipment, and the risk of injury to own personnel and civilians. During the last year the project has mainly covered the following areas of interest: ? Non-Lethal Weapons ? Methodology for wound ballistic assessments ? Vulnerability criteria ? Vulnerability and survivability analysis of personnel Many of the questions that are raised by the Swedish Armed Forces concern the vulnerability of own personnel or the risk of injuring civilians. This has increased the need for knowledge about relevant injury criteria and realistic probability levels that are acceptable for personnel and civilians respectively. Another area of increasing interest is methodologies to assess the effectiveness of new weapon systems.
