Abstract
A number of computer codes are available to evaluate weapons effects, protection and hazards. These codes work in slightly different ways depending on the problem considered. Examples of computer tools related to weapons effects and protection of various objects and hazards related to clearing of UXO and ammunition storage are AVAL, VEBE, KATOS, ConWep, SWERISK and AMRISK. Common to all these tools are the need for well characterized war heads to get reliable output. On the highest level the characterization of conventional warheads deals with - besides design and geometry - the means of the weapons effect. A course classification is blast, fragments (naturally fragmenting, pre-scored and pre-fragmented), shaped charge, penetration and fire. In the project "Anläggningsskydd med fokus på internationella insatser" all of these means. This report is limited to fragments and a future report will deal with blast. In an appendix some relevant references are collected.
