Abstract
The IMTR project (International Mission Training Research) was a collaborative research and development effort between the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and the US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), active from 2005 to 2011. The activities within the IMTR project represent a comprehensive approach to how distributed simulation and supporting methodology can be used to train warfighters and increase their readiness. The purpose of this final report of the IMTR project is to provide an overview of the many research and development efforts that were carried out within the PA between 2005-2011. The successful collaboration continues in the IMTR II project agreement 2012-2018 under the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Memorandum of Agreement (RDT&E-US-SW-AF-1201) between the US and Sweden, but that effort is only briefly mentioned in the current report. The main actors were FOI's Unit for Combat Simulation/Swedish Air Force Combat Simulation Centre (FLSC) and AFRL's Warfighter Readiness Research Division under the 711th Human Performance Wing. The IMTR Project Agreement (IMTR PA) was formulated under the Technology Research and Development Projects Agreement (TRDP) between the US and Sweden, designated TRDP-US-SWE-AF-05-0001. A large number of collaborative project activities and workshops along with exercise preparation took place under the IMTR PA. A number of software tools and databases along with cryptographic material were exchanged in order to prepare for distributed simulations between the facilities. The Air Senior National Representatives (ASNR) of Sweden and the US were annually briefed on the progress of the collaboration.
