Abstract

Trials with stand-off detection were performed during the 2nd and 3rd of November from one of the Swedish Coast Guard vessels, KBV 003, Amfitrite. The locations for the trials were south of Utlängan (2nd of November) and west of the southern part of Öland (3rd of November). Limited releases of the condensed gases ammonia and sulphur dioxide were observed with two different passive IR-detectors. This report will present results from Rapid (Bruker Daltronics), which is an instrument used for standoff detection by the Swedish Armed Forces. Results from the test support the assumption that passive standoff detection can be used to detect gas releases at sea.
