Abstract
ds In several applications it is of interest to survey and monitor an urban environment. The purpose can be to protect critical infrastructures, to monitor passenger terminals, or to secure base camps. This report considers the use of heterogeneous sensor networks to support surveillance tasks; in particular how to make use of attributes within such networks. Attributes are pieces of information about object's characteristics. Attributes are useful when the objective is to go beyond a mere detection and when it desirable to also describe objects and their relationships etc. The report rst gives a short background to the application and brie y puts the concept of attribute information in a context. In three separate chapters, the report then discusses and reviewes technologies for the sensing, managing and fusion of attribute information. The report then provides a short demonstration framework to handle attribute information. Finally, some concluding remarks are given. An important aim of the report is to provide an overview of the research area and to provide a basis for deciding on the relevance for any further research activities in the area.
