Abstract

The report gives a brief presentation of the 2012 activities of the project "Camouflage for soldiers". The project has studied how modern materials and techniques can be used to improve the camouflage and thus survival for all soldiers. Materials and techniques for signature management of other platforms have also been monitored briefly. The area has been covered by participating in several conferences, primarily application-oriented ones. The project enables the participation in several international collaborations such as a NATO group for adaptive camouflage, which also is funded the project. In that group the ability to simultaneously adapt visual and thermal camouflage will be shown. In the project some research in more specific areas such as textile material for flexible protection of soldiers, multifunctional materials and spectral design, especially biomimetics has been performed. Besides spectral design efforts to control light scattering properties in order to produce a dull and broadband "white" surface has been made.
