Abstract

Radio networking requirements are complex to specify. This is because network performance is greatly influenced by how the different radio nodes function together. The report summarizes a study about how to produce the requirements on radio networks and possible methods that could be used for doing so. Important also is that the requirements can be verified. Firstly, different issues about how to specify requirements on radio networks are discussed. Thereafter, five different areas are selected and treated more thoroughly in the following five chapters: robustness, traffic, transmission range, interoperability, and initiation. Both proposals on how to specify the requirements for some desired functionality within each area, as well as the difficulties in doing the specification are described.
