Abstract

The report describes a model of a generic Defensive Aid Suite (DAS) developed within the FOI project Electronic Warfare Duel Simulation in collaboration with FOI project Defensive Aid Suit for Maritime Environment. A DAS is an integrated solution for self-protection with the purpose to detect threats and counter these. To detect threats several sensors can be used depending of the type of threat, e.g. a radar warner can be used to detect surveillance radar. To counter these threats, electronic warfare, hard kill or tactical countermeasures can be used. The simulation framework Electronic Warfare Simulation Interface Model (EWSim) is developed within the project Electronic Warfare Duel Simulation. The framework can be used to evaluate complex EW-scenarios, for radar, optronics and communication, based on modelling and simulation. Duels can be assessed with simulated automatic systems, but also with manual systems enabling training for operators. The generic DAS model has been developed as part of the EWSim framework. The report describes the parts of the model that are used for radar threats, i.e. an Electronic Support Measures system and an Electronic Countermeasure System. These systems can also interact with sensors in other wavebands in the total DAS system.
