Abstract

Edges and weak areas must be treated when evaluating ballistic protection in accordance to AEP-55. In order to implement a reasonably simple model for this in the vulnerability and lethality assessment tool AVAL it is assumed that edges must be predefined, and preferably separated as at least outer edges and inner edges. The report describes a method, which with some limitations, automatically can detect edges in some geometries. Limitations and suggestions for improvements are given together with an application example.
