Abstract

This report summarizes the work done during 2016 within internal and intermediate ballistics. The work has been partitioned in ve areas: modelling of internal and intermediate ballistics, analysis of an internal ballistics code, muzzle brake analysis, intermediate ballistic projectile motion, and experiments. A simple thermodynamic model has been implemented for internal ballistics. The gasdynamic code CellGun has been analysed from a numeric/programming view. A method has been developed for simulating projectile motion through the muzzle brake after leaving the barrel. From those results an analysis was performed on a number of idealized muzzle brakes. A ballistic pendulum has been built and preliminary tests conducted to establish the recoil impulse of a small calibre weapon.
