Abstract
Characteristics and performance of aerial vehicles are essential in determining how they should be used in military applications and the character of strengths and weaknessess. This report gives an overview of methods and tools that are useful for analyzing aerial vehicles with various degrees of fidelity. Focus is on aerodynamic characteristics which are essential for any quantitative statements of performance. Most of these methods and tools are also applicable for analysis of other ying objects, e.g. air and surface target missiles, and other systems with ying parts. A more complete assessment of vehicle characteristics normally requires analysis of propulsion, structure, material and signature. In most cases, these areas are connected and knowledge in the area described in this report needs to be supplemented from other areas to give a more complete picture of methods and tools for characterizing a vehicle from a military perspective.
