Abstract

This report contains proposals for countermeasures for radioactive fallout, which can reduce the transfer of radioactive strontium (e.g. 90Sr) to crops and further on to bread, milk and meat. The counter-measures are based on previous experimental studies of radioactive strontium in the primary production of Swedish agriculture and on theoretical modelling of this, and constitute a technical basis in the planning of recommendations and decisions in order to reduce the transfer from radioactive fallout to food. The parameter values included in the calculations are subject to large uncertainties, but the principles for the calculations apply. Note that after a radioactive fallout, it is preferred that the input parameter values must originate from data based on sampling and measurements of the actual situation.
