Research and development of hypersonic weapon systems has increased significantly during the last 5-10 years. Russia and China have announced operational system, and major investments in development of hypersonic weapons are being undertaken worldwide. Equal amount of effort is also invested in how to counter this new threat. The report gives an overview of different types of hypersonic weapons and a short introduction to the enabling technologies. Since hypersonic glide vehicles are the systems just becoming operational, the report focuses on these.
