Abstract

The report describes the status of the activities conducted during 2020 in the Human Performance Enhancement (HPE) project. The work has mainly included: - Continued work to develop frameworks and analysis of influencing factors based on approaches to frameworks and technology inventory as proposed in FOI's report from 2018 (Levin et al., 2018) and FOI Memo 6931 from 2019. - Support to the British DCDC's (Ministry of Defense Development, Concepts and Doctrine Center) Strategic Implication Project (SIP) which has a broad perspective on the area with a perspective towards 2050. - Participation in MCDC (Multinational Capability Development Campaign) collaboration entitled "Human Performance Enhancement and Optimization HPE / HPO". In this case, too, the content has had a broader perspective, albeit with a shorter time horizon and a clear focus on interoperability. - Continued scanning of the horizon and literature reviews with the aim of mapping technologies and methods in the area. - Continued development of assessment games methodology and scenarios specific to the area. The new set of scenarios generated during the year is judged to have the potential to be used as a starting point for discussions about the near and future need for human augmentation. - A student thesis aimed at needs analysis regrading Human enhancement has been conducted. The report describes the various approaches that have been discussed and to some extent also tested internally. Several workshops have been conducted, with the last one being maily virtual. The result from will be analyzed and reported in connection with additional games being conducted.
