The overview of structured analytic techniques for assessment and estimate of major incidents and events is based on techniques for intelligence analysis. The overview is intended as support for education and training of police personnel who participate in command and control of major incidents and events. The overview summarise 42 techniques within six families of techniques for: explorative investigation of the problem, diagnostics for formulation of hypotheses, reframing of problems from other points of view, foresight of possible developments, decision support for decision makers and challenge analysis to broaden established opinions. Most of the techniques do not have any explicit requirements, but some are facilitated by teamwork, a facilitator, and technical support systems.
