Abstract

In this comparative study, a propellant based on ammonium perchlorate and hydroxylterminated polybutadiene was manufactured by a traditional planetary mixer and with a new manufacturing technology, resonance acoustic mixing (RAM). Eight batches were produces with RAM-technology to evaluate the effect of mixing time, addition order of ingredients and casting procedure on the mechanical properties. The mechanical properties were compared to that of a traditional made propellant. The results show that the mixing time and the addition order of ingredients affects the mechanical properties.
