Abstract

The future naval air defence will have to counter new types of threats as the technology for engaging enemy ships is being developed and utilized in new contexts. With a future NATO membership, combat assignments for the naval defence will have to be updated, where the naval air defence plays a key role in defending important infrastructure at sea or is part of an integrated air defence. New demands on the naval air defence capabilities affect the choice of design for both platforms and weapon systems. The aim of this report is to present possible requirements for a future naval air defence for a number of combat assignments and threats. Furthermore, the report is intended to provide an overview and suggestions on future work with assessment of naval air defence.
